This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

Description

INGREDIENTS: onion, garlic, cayenne, California Bay leaves, redwood needles, paprika, apple cider vinegar, honey

Welcome to California! Our latest edition of Fire Cider combines the powerful immune supporting Fire Cider essentials-onion, garlic, cayenne, apple cider vinegar, and honey, with 2 signature California plants-redwood and California Bay leaves (which differ from the more commonly known Bay Laurel).

Redwood needles (Sequoia sempervirens) is a tree that needs no introduction, people visit from all over the world to see these massive beauties. But did you know redwood needles are high in vitamin C? They also have an affinity for the respiratory system. Here in Humboldt county, CA local herbalists turn to redwood needles when our loved ones experience what we call “Humboldt Hack”, which is basically a cough with wet stuck mucus in the lungs. This doesn’t just happen here in Humboldt, but the moist weather on the coast can be a contributor. And our local redwoods thrive in moisture, which is just one example of the intelligence of nature-that local imbalances can be helped with local plants!

California Bay (Umbellularia California), is also known as Pepperwood, and in Oregon it’s called Oregon Myrtle. It is different than Bay Laurel, although the leaves are used the same way in cooking, and makes a wonderfully scented bay rum aftershave. It is also antimicrobial. In our California Cider it is added for subtle flavor.

Suggested Use: This can be used any way you would use Fire Cider or Vinegar: in salad dressings, marinades, on greens or grains. I like to take a shot of it every morning as an immunity tonic, and if I get sick I will take a tablespoon or 2 every hour or so, until my symptoms subside.
